Miracles of Sound Bath Healing 🎵✨

Updated: Dec 5, 2023

What is a sound bath?

Y'all know I love my tub 🛀 But today I'm not talking about bubbles and bath bombs...I'm talking about SOUND baths! 🎶 Sound baths are like a spa treatment for your mind. 🧖‍♀️💆‍♀️ Think about how you feel when your favorite song comes on - your energy shifts, right? Well, sound baths take that feeling to the next level! Instruments like gongs, crystal bowls, and chimes are used to create a symphony of sound that is meant to relax and heal the body, balancing all chakras(still working on my throat). ✨

Do sound baths work?

Now before you start thinking this is some more hippy stuff, remember that the benefits of music and sound are legit. Not only does sound heal emotional and physical trauma, science has shown sound helps with a huge ailment many of us face. 🧪🧬 Source: Harvard:tinnitus-ringing-or-humming-in-your-ears-sound-therapy-is-one-option-202112082654

According to the above Harvard Health Blog, tinnitus is that continuous ringing or buzzing sound in one's ears, which currently affects about 15-20% of the population! Although tinnitus is often linked with age-related hearing loss, ear injury, or a circulatory system disorder, many times the cause remains a mystery. After bartending in clubs for 15 years with no earplugs (I couldn't hear sh*t), my ears still tend to ring randomly without reason.

Tinnitus and Sound Therapy

Tinnitus can have a real impact on the quality of life, causing stress, sleep problems, and even depression in some people. So how can we manage it? Enter sound therapy – the white knight in the realm of treatment. So, what exactly is sound therapy? In a nutshell, it's a way of using external noise to counterbalance or 'mask' the perception of tinnitus. The concept is similar to camouflaging the irritating internal noise with a more soothing or pleasant external sound. A typical sound therapy regime could include white noise machines, hearing aids, wearable sound generators, and even tabletop sound generators. For those who enjoy the techy side of life, there are even smartphone apps available that play calming noises. But DO NOT sleep with your headphones in!!! Sweet dreams are made of these, aren't they?🫣

Benefits of Sound Baths

One key benefit of sound therapy is its ability to provide immediate relief. This method offers a sort of auditory diversion, breaking the vicious cycle of hearing the internal noise, becoming more stressed about it, and then hearing it even more. Furthermore, according to Harvard Health, sound therapy can also train the brain to be less aware of the tinnitus over time, reducing the emotional impact it can have. This brain training aspect, also known as habituation, is a game-changer, reducing the annoyance factor significantly for many individuals.

But remember, while sound therapy can be a significant tool in your arsenal against tinnitus, it's crucial to consult with a healthcare holistic pro before diving into any new treatment regime. After all, every individual is unique, and what works wonders for one might not be the best option for another. Some people leave sound therapy feeling happy and reset, while others may feel a great deal of upset, due to the fact sound can break down barriers and bring out emotions you weren't prepared to confront.

In conclusion, while tinnitus can be a real earful, know that you're not alone in this. Science has been making beautiful strides in finding solutions, and sound therapy just happens to be one of those wonderful notes in the melody of tinnitus management. So, if the hums and buzzes of tinnitus are getting you down, remember, there is hope and it's not one-size-fits-all. What works for your bestie might not work for you, and that's okay. You do you! 💖👑
